The Grand Slam

The Grand Slam. There are so many different variations of this that have been created over the years. First there is the original Grand Slam, and we know Bobby Jones was the only player to win the US and British Opens, and the U.S. and British Amateurs. Then there is the career Grand Slam. Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods are the five elite players to have won all four majors at any time throughout their career. And if you are really good, you have a version of the Grand Slam named after you. The Consecutive Grand Slam - also known as the Tiger Slam. This is when a player wins all four majors in a row over two consecutive years. Tiger is the only player to do that.

Then there is the modern day Grand Slam — four major consecutive wins in one calendar year. Right now, Phil is the man who has the chance to do that. With the way he has been playing and with his improved swing, it is a definite possibility. But here is my question for you: Is Phil the man who can win all four majors this year? Phil is a likeable guy and I think it is obvious that he has improved his game. But is Phil really going to be the man to beat this year on the tour?
