Top Ten On-Course Public Restrooms in Phoenix

The Pointe at Lookout Mountain - Congratulations to The Pointe! Security Locks, A/C, marble basins, and the view from #10 comfort station is breath taking. Many publications profess to provide the pipeline for pristine picks when it comes to ranking such golf categories as top course conditions, affordability, and level of customer service. However, there is serious negligence in reporting when it comes to the vital listing that can make or break a memorable golf experience. Many times I have stood over a difficult 6-iron approach, across a bejeweled fake lake, only to have the ‘feeling’ that last night’s burrito wasn’t exactly kosher.

A reflex nod to my playing partner always precedes the mad dash to the nearest par-port-o-potty for a much needed back nine maneuver. Once confronted by the reclusive lavatory; necessities are basic. No need to expect the Ritz. Running water, maybe a door, some kind of operational flushing unit, and a possible automatic soap dispenser with accompanied paper towels perhaps? Sometimes I’m just satisfied and surprised to find that a fellow traveler decided not to leave me their own ’surprise.’ Why don’t we demand more from these ‘outback out houses?’ Can’t a golfer expect some comfort from these comfort stations? Is there such a thing as an ‘above and beyond bathroom?’

Wouldn’t we all like a place of silent solitude between double-bogies where we can collect our thoughts while depositing our sins from Taco Bell? Must this oasis always emanate the perfunctory perfume of a holding cell? Must I confront the scrawled tales of ‘Johnny’ and ‘Kilroy’ while spinning my own ‘yarns?’ Many courses spend what seems like thousands of dollars on the landscaping outside these water closets, but what about the ‘toiletscaping?’

How about some motivational golf lingo like a Notre Dame locker room for a change? Speaking from experience, I can honestly say my performance on a hole following a NASCAR like pit stop is directly related to the experience in the pits. Much like Stock Car Driver Dick Trickle, if the pit crew hasn’t made the necessary preparations, my wheels feel as though they’re coming off half way down the track. So, after much consideration and meticulous research, I would like to share my findings on the search for the best on-course commode in Phoenix:

  1. The Pointe at Lookout Mountain - Congratulations to The Pointe! Security Locks, A/C, marble basins, and the view from #10 comfort station is breath taking.
  2. Troon North
  3. The Boulders
  4. Desert Mountain
  5. The Raven at South Mountain
  6. TPC of Scottsdale
  7. Kierland
  8. Lone Tree
  9. Camelback
  10. Wildfire at Desert Ridge
