Golf Course Fashion Trends

Are the days of disco duds creeping back onto the golf course? Yesterday, I saw a guy with green bell bottom pants and a white patent leather belt playing with some guy wearing a tight, see-through, clown collared golf shirt! It wouldn’t be so bad if these guys were in their 80’s (and have long since given up on looking “chic”), but these guys both looked about twenty years old! I thought the last time I would see plaid shorts and white belts would be at my Grandfather’s annual WWII squadron golf outing!! Now I’m seeing Jesper Parnevik look-alikes everywhere. What’s the deal?! Since when did it become fashionable to look like a nineteen year old Swedish pimp on the golf course?

To make matters worse, golfers are paying top dollar for these get ups. One company taking advantage of fashion trends in the golf industry is J. Lindeberg. After helping the Italian jeans label Diesel launch its international collection, Swedish designer Johan Lindeberg decided to cut out on his own. His J. Lindeberg collection fuses hot rock-and-roll looks with traditional preppy chic. Lindeberg’s secondary line, JLOC, which stands for J. Lindeberg On Course and consists of fashionable looks for the golf course. You can check out his full line by clicking www.jlindeberg.com.

As for me, the perfect golf outfit consists of a partially clean Le Tigre golf shirt-I’ve retained since 8th grade, Tan Abercrombie & Fitch Bermuda shorts (with side pockets for extra balls), any belt, white socks, FJ shoes & glove (essential brand name golf equipment), and some kind of baseball cap with the words “beer” or “sox” in the script. I mix it up a little. Sometimes I wear a “Girls Gone Wild” visor.
