The best surfer of all time will tempt his fate on land next week at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. The Tiger Woods of surfing is an avid golfer might actually have a good shot at something better than last. Slater, who’s rumored to be dating Cameron Diaz and was spotted golfing with her in Hawaii last week, says it’s a dream to be playing in the tournament, but he’s on call for the ledgandary Eddie Aikau big wave contest, and might have to split:

“It would be a really tough decision, but I think it’s obvious what takes precedence.”

Still, the Monterey Bay is one of the best surf spots in California (I grew up there), and Slater might just stick around for the upcoming swell:

“I’ll have a wetsuit and a few boards ready to go.”

Slater’s pro partner is edgy Pat Perez. Pat’s blown up on tour a few times, but Kelly says he’ll “help keep him cool.”
