Hole In One Record Destroyed At Ko’olau

A college golfer has done the unthinkable: aced the toughest hole on “the toughest golf course in the world.” Bret Melson hit a 448yd hole-in-one on the 18th hole at the Ko’olau Golf Club — an insanely difficult course to say the least. (The Golf Chick has played this course a few times — just let her explain.) According to the San Diego Golf Academy, student Melson went big where no one thought it was possible:
With a slope rating of 158 and a course rating of 74.4 from the gold tees, there is not much room for argument. The deep hardpan bunkers, sloping fairways, deep ravines and thick jungle all around make it a golfers nightmare, one every golfer should challenge at least once in their lifetime. Bret Melson is the first person ever to ace this hole!
The previous hole-in-one record was a 444 yarder hit by Robert Mitera in 1965 at the iracle Hills Golf Club in Omaha, Nebraska.

This is Bret’s Dad, Kirk. Way to go, kid! Your 18 year old sister now wants her Taylor Made driver back! Congratulations, you sure have Kearney Nebraska’s golf community in an uproar over this one.
