Jessica Alba Is A Golf Girl

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Jessica Alba reveals her real passion in the new issue of Parade:

“I like to play golf. Is that real dorky? When I’m chilled out and relaxed, my long game is better. I can drive the ball two hundred yards, and that’s not bad. It’s just a game for now, but when I’m on the senior tour, then we’ll have to talk again.

Next question: what course and when? :)

GolfNow.tv Trivia Contest - Thursday Update with Keri

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Hi, everyone and happy Thursday.

Well, I guess it had to happen at some point - and we wish it hadn’t - but apparently we made a mistake in yesterday’s question on Babe Zaharias’ first round of golf. The correct answer to yesterday’s question turned out not to be included in the choices we gave you. Our primary source came from the World Golf Hall of Fame and while we couldn’t find another source to contradict what we thought was the correct answer - two of our players did and we believe their source to be completely reliable and accurate. So, we apologize for the mistake and just to make it up to you, we’ll give everyone who submitted an entry in the trivia contest yesterday a free entry into our daily drawings - just as if you all got the question correct!

Now, let me say congratulations to our winner yesterday - Mark Doiron of San Mateo, California - who won a Nike Slingshot II Cart bag.

Okay, compared to yesterday, our question today should be pretty easy to find the answer to, in the event that you don’t already know the answer that is.

Well, that’s it for today but be sure to stop by tomorrow for Big Prize Friday. Have a great day! - Keri

Serenoa Golf Club Joins GolfNow Network

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

This is a shotmaker’s course. There is water that comes into play throughout the course. However, most of the fairways are open and rolling. Serenoa is surrounded by natural wetlands and marshlands. The signature hole is #2, a 375-yard, par 4, requiring a tee shot up a dogleg left fairway with water in play on both sides as you near the elevated green.

Book your tee times with Serenoa at Golfnow.com

That’s One Foxy Golfer

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Salinas California is home to the world’s foxiest golfers. Well, not exactly golfers, more like golfball lovers. The Salinas Twin Creeks Golf Course is home to a family of ball stealing foxes who reside on the eighth hole. The Salinas Californian is there:

The family lives somewhere between the eighth green and the fifth hole fairway. The mother and kits occasionally mingle with golfers in the morning and early evening. That’s also when the playful foxes are most likely to run onto the green where a ball has fallen, snatch it and run away.

And what’s a golfer to do when a fox has swiped his ball? Take another shot of course:

Twin Creeks course professional Colleen Henry, its resident golf expert, said a player whose golf ball gets intercepted by fox gets no penalty for taking another stroke or playing with a new ball.

Playful little critters. I want to check out this course just to see the foxes. This isn’t the first time we’ve reported on animals with a penchant for play. Read all about these little robber raccoons.

GolfNow.tv Trivia Contest - Wednesday Update with Keri

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Hi everyone. First of all, we want to apologize for the problems with the blog for the last week or so. It was a technical issue that we have hopefully fixed now so if you’re reading this - I’m back!

Let me catch up just a little bit by saying congratulations to both of our winners this week. Seth Williams of Mesa, Arizona won a Bag Boy three-wheel push cart on Memorial Day and yesterday our winner was Kay McGinnis of Tustin, California and Kay won a dozen personalized Titleist Pro-V1 golf balls!

Our theme this week is women in golf and our question yesterday was on the first woman who won the U.S. Women’s Amateur who was not an American. 77% of the entries had the correct answer so we’ll find out on today’s show what the answer was.

Okay, that’s it for today. Have a great Wednesday! - Keri

Roided Up PGA Golfers

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Dick Pound (yes, Dick Pound) is the world’s anti-doping chief. He’s calling for anti-doping measures to be enacted across professional golf. Is it just me or does it seem totally off the mark that golfers would take performance enhancing drugs? I could be completely wrong though. Any thoughts?
