Grand Lake Golf Course Joins GolfNow

Friday, June 29th, 2007

Grand LakeAt Grand Lake picture an 18 hole championship golf course, carved out of the woods at an altitude of 8,420 feet, located at the base of the Never Summer Mountain Range. The Challenging fairways are bordered by tall lodge pole pines which surround the well tended, subtle greens. Majestic mountains, some still capped by the winter snows, tower high above you. It’s all yours for the taking at the Grand Lake Golf Course, where your approach shot just might be checked out by a curious elk, mule deer or fox.

GolfNow.tv Trivia Contest - Friday Update with Keri

Friday, June 29th, 2007

Hi everyone!

Well, it’s Big Prize Friday but it’s also the day we’re finally going to announce the winner of our “GolfNow in Portland” contest. Now, we’re not sure why more people didn’t enter, but we did receive four videos and so on today’s show we’ll announce the name of the person who we’re going to fly out to Portland for a two-night stay and four rounds of golf.

Congratulations to our winner from yesterday, who was Ed Twardy of Scottsdale, Arizona. Ed won a Callaway golf “grab bag” with a Callaway baseball cap, a pair of Callaway sunglasses and a Callaway golf glove.

The first round of the U.S. Women’s Open was yesterday in Southern Pines, North Carolina and
18-year-old rookie Angela Park finished the day in first place with a 3-under par 68. ESPN provided the television coverage yesterday - and will again today for the second round, as well - and our trivia question on yesterday’s show was on which course hosted the Women’s Open the very first time it was televised. 68% of the entries we received had the correct answer so on today’s show we’ll find out which course it was and if your answer was correct.

Okay, that’s it for today. Have a great weekend! - Keri

This Buick Open Might Be Jim Furyk’s Shot

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

Jim Furyk is likely the man happiest Tiger Woods is a new daddy. And that’s not to say Jim is a loving-caring man. Last year Mr. Furyk was shut out of first place at the Buick Open by none other than the Tiger himself. (Furyk has actually had two seconds place finishes at the Buick.) This year Tiger has opted out of the tounament to spend time with his wife and newborn.

The 6′ 2” Furyk has been on a roll lately. He has two second place finishes in three starts. The Buick Open sans Tiger Woods is looking like the place for Jim to land a 1st.

Tarpon Springs Golf Course Joins GolfNow!

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

The Tarpon Springs Golf Course near Tampa is owned and operated by the City of Tarpon Springs for the golfing enjoyment of the public. The original nine holes of the golf course were built in 1907, with the second nine finished in the late 1920’s. Par is 72 and the course plays 6,200 yards from the back tees with many doglegs that make it play longer than the actual length.
