The Tiger Woods Effect

Keeping good company is often thought to improve ones personal qualities. Seems hanging with Tiger Woods can do the opposite. Unless Tiger is paying the dinner bill, pro golfers say they prefer NOT to get paired with the reigning champ of the Championship. Stephen Ames, who upon finding he was paired with Woods in the final round at Southern Hills, talked about how that can shake your nerves:
“It’s probably going to happen to me. I don’t know. I haven’t been in this situation.
And then later in the day after shooting a 76, seven more than Tiger:
“I thought I handled the day really well considering I was under duress or strain or whatever it was I was playing under. I’m not looking at the score I had, but at the way I handled the day. I was fighting my swing; I wasn’t fighting (Woods). I just wasn’t swinging very well today from the start.â€?
