I’m A Barbie Girl…. Golfer

Come on Barbie let’s go party. Or golf, whatever. Barbie is coming out with her own line of golf clubs. They are a little bigger than Barbie and a little smaller then the sticks you swing. USA Today reports:

The Barbie brand is reaching out to introduce young girls to golf. In November, Mattel will introduce a Barbie golf club set for girls 4-6.

“We know from our research that a big part of a little girl’s life is about being active, about playing outdoors,” says Juan Gutierrez, senior director of Mattel consumer products. “We believe that offering a golf club set offers a girl another option to play another sport.”

And here’s a little Aqua for your enjoyment:

San Diego Fires Threaten Golf Courses, Mickelson’s House

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

sandiegofire

The wildfires of San Diego, Orange County and Malibu are nearly torching numerous private golf courses and have forced the evacuation of one the world’s greatest golfers: Phil Mickelson. According to a San Diego Fire Chief, the Witch Fire looks like it might burn from the mountains all the way to the Pacific Ocean if winds don’t die down:

San Diego Fire Rescue Battalion Chief John Tomson worried that if the wind did not die down, fires could burn all the way through San Diego to the Pacific Ocean — a cataclysm of almost unimaginable dimensions.

“We’re not going to stop it,” he said. “I don’t have any idea even where it is any more. I’m not sure anybody knows where it is anymore.”

Some of the priciest communities in San Diego County lay in the path of the fire: Fairbanks Ranch, Rancho Santa Fe, Del Mar and Solana Beach, with gated communities, golf courses and a polo field. From the fire’s origin near Ramona, it is 35 miles to the ocean.

Phil Mickelson, who lives in Rancho Santa Fe, has been evacuated from his home. Phil from the East Coast to get his family and belongings and hit the road: “We’re safe, the family is together.”

Scary stuff.

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

Hi everyone and happy Wednesday!

So, our “Who Did It” trivia theme continues today and yesterday’s question had a much bigger split on answers than usual. It was a harder question to search for on the web, so we think more of you had to guess for a change! 38% of the answers we received chose “A”, 25% picked “B”, 30% went with “C” and “D” finished up with just 7%. Well, today we’ll tell you which golfer hit that shot out of the tree and you’ll find out if you earned another entry into our daily drawings.

Speaking of daily drawings, yesterday our prize was a dozen personalized NIKE One Platinum golf balls and our winner was Bob Ellison of Novato, California. Congratulations, Bob!

Okay, that’s it for today. Have a great day! - Keri
