Be Sure To Catch TrackMan At The Mercedes-Benz Championship

Monday, December 31st, 2007

The Golf Channel is going to start using super high tech radar equipment to make your sofa stationed golf viewing experience just that much better. TGC will start broadcasting the exact movement of a players swing as well as the rotation and flight of the ball. The technology being used is something called TrackMan. Players have been able to view their performance with TrackMan for a while now. Here’s some videos using the equipment: TrackMan.

The first tournament using TrackMan technology will be the Mercedes-Benz Championship starting January 3rd on Maui, Hawaii.

New rules for the new year on GolfNow’s Trivia Contest

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

Hi everyone.

Okay, we have a lot to go over so, let’s get right to it. Today we kick off our new season of GolfNow TV for 2008 with our first question for the new year and we have some new rules and changes to the show that we want to go over.

Last year, every time you got an answer to one of our trivia questions correct, you earned another entry into our daily drawings and all of your entries stayed in our computer for the entire year. This year, you will still accumulate entries with every correct answer, but each entry will expire after 30 days. So, in order to keep the highest number of entries possible – which increases your chances of winning – you have to make sure to play as often as possible so your entries don’t run out.

Last year, we would also announce the name of our winner each day and then we would get in touch with them by e-mail to let them know that they had won. Well, this year, it’s up to you to watch and see if your name is called and then contact us by e-mailing me at keri@golfnow.com in order to claim your prize. If you can’t watch each day, you can check our archive of past shows and we’ll also send out the names of the winners every day in our GolfNow e-mails and recap them in the weekend e-mails. If you subscribe to my daily e-mails, I’ll announce the winners each day there, as well. You can also have your friends and family watch and let you know that you’ve won so, there will be plenty of chances for you to find out if you are the winner in our daily drawings.

Another change we made is with our trivia themes. This year, except for special occasions such as the majors, we’re getting rid of our theme weeks and we’re just going to ask random trivia questions every day to keep you on your toes. We have a few more changes that involve our daily drawings, but we’ll go over those as the week goes on (although I will tell you that there is a fun new change that happens tomorrow so be sure to watch to find out what it is).

So, we think this year is going to be even better and more fun than last year and we look forward to all of you playing again in the new year.

We asked our last question of 2007 on Friday’s show and, since we’re starting the new season today, we realized that we didn’t have to ask a question. So, on the show, I told everyone what the answer was so that everyone would have one entry to start the new year with. However, only 94% of the entries chose the correct answer so maybe the other 6% didn’t watch the show to hear the answer and only guessed? Either way, we’ll give everyone who played on Friday a free entry to kick off 2008 with.

We also had our last Big Prize Friday show of the year last week and our big prize was a Callaway FT-5 Series Driver - the editor’s choice driver on Golf Digest’s 2007 Hot List - with a retail value of over $500 and our winner was Nick Jankiewicz of Kosse, Texas. Congratulations, Nick! Just so you know, we also have a change to our Big Prize Friday drawings for 2008, and we’ll talk about that change on this Friday’s show.

Okay, that was a lot of information but that will give you the details for the new year and I can’t wait to get started! I’ve had a great time this year and thanks so much to everyone who played in our first year, to all of our sponsors and to everyone at GolfNow. Have a safe and joyous New Year’s Eve and I’ll see you next year! - Keri

Hi, everyone!

Well, it’s our last Big Prize Friday show for 2007 and to end the year, we’re giving away a Callaway FT-5 Series driver - the Editor’s Choice driver on Golf Digest’s 2007 Hot List and it has a retail value of over $500. Our prize on yesterday’s show was a NIKE golf grab bag and our winner was Charles Bertuglia of Wading River, New York. Congratulations, Charles!

Yesterday, we revisited another one of our questions from the past year and asked you which golfer hit a shot from up in a tree during a tournament in Australia? 64% of the entries we received were correct and tomorrow you can find out if you were right.

Starting on Monday, all of the entries that you’ve built up over this past year will be gone and everyone will start all over again. Plus, we have some new rules and changes to the show starting on Monday, so be sure to watch and we’ll go over everything for our new season.

Okay, that’s it for our last week of this year. Thanks so much to all of you for playing this year and we hope you’ll come back for more fun in 2008. Have a great weekend and I’ll see you back on Monday for the brand new season of GolfNow TV! - Keri

Hi, everyone!

Well, the final week of this year is almost over and tomorrow will be our last Big Prize Friday show of 2007. To wrap up this past year, we’ve been revisiting some trivia questions that we’ve asked over the last twelve months and maybe you remember the question from yesterday’s show which was on the original inductees into the World Golf Hall of Fame. 73% of the entries we received had the correct answer so we’ll replay our original answer to the question from back in August and you can find out if you were right.

The prize in our daily drawing on yesterday’s show was a stand golf bag by OGIO and our winner was Peggy Miller of Crowley, Louisiana. Congratulations, Peggy! It’s great that we had one of our female players win during our last week of the year. Who knows? Maybe we’ll have another woman win tomorrow!

Oh, and speaking of winners - here is the list of the Top Eleven players with the most correct entries from the past year who have never won in our daily drawings and all of them will be receiving a personalized putter package from the good people over at Upswing Golf:

1. Jim Burns of Davis, California - 224 correct entries
2. Steve Huckleby of Addyston, Ohio - 217 correct entries
3. Ron Birtch of Laguna Niguel, California - 215 correct entries
4. Michael An of San Francisco, California - 214 correct entries
5. Carlos Cordova of Modesto, California - 214 correct entries
6. John Kelemen of Tempe, Arizona - 212 correct entries
7. Ted Meyers of Campbell River, British Columbia - 211 correct entries
8. Bob Stefaniak of Lakeville, Minnesota - 209 correct entries
9. Ronnie Post of Garland, Texas - 208 correct entries
10. Mel Howsmon of Phoenix, Arizona - 208 correct entries
11. Curtis Park of Riverside, California - 208 correct entries

I especially want to mention Ted Meyers because he’s our very first Canadian winner and we want to make sure to remind all of our neighbors to the north of us that they’re completely eligible to play in our trivia contest, along with everyone in the U.S.

Okay, that’s it for today. Have a great Thursday and be sure to watch our last Big Prize Friday show of the year tomorrow because our prize has a retail value of over $500 and you might be the winner! - Keri

Hi, everyone!

Well, it’s back to work for most of us on this day after Christmas and thanks so much to everyone who sent us well-wishes over the holiday! Today, we’re going to continue looking back at some trivia questions from this past year as we count down our last week of 2007. We’re also going to publish the list of the top ten people with the most correct entries for this year (who haven’t won in our daily drawings) and those people will all win a personalized putter package from the good people over at Upswing Golf.

Speaking of Upswing Golf, we gave away one of their personalized putters in our daily drawing yesterday and our winner was Scott Salmon of Gilbert, Arizona. Congratulations, Scott!

Okay, that’s it for today. Have a great day! - Keri
