Tiger Woods cleaned up so easily at the Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines that the other players are feeling a little down. It’s hard to keep spirits up with Tiger playing so good, ya know! Here’s just a few quotes from around the PGA camp:

Ryuji Imada: “My goal going into today was to finish second. That’s almost like winning the golf tournament to me.

Phil Mickelson: “Nobody thought too much about winning.

Charles Howell III: “You’d like to think it’s surprising, but it’s not. It’s Tiger.

Fred Couples: “He’s just much better. It’s fun to see. I’ve been on tour for 28 years, and I’ve never seen this stuff.

Stewart Cink: “I’d say this is the best I’ve seen him play. The last couple days, off the tee, the control he had was just really very impressive. The Tiger that we saw a year and two years ago, hitting it sort of all over the place, I think that’s a thing of the past. He’s got it geared down and he came out and played really well.

A caddie, watching Tiger win at Torrey, where the U.S. Open will be held in June: “He just won two tournaments with one round.”

Tiger Woods: “I wanted to go out there and make no bogeys and shoot something under par. I got half of it right.”

Hi, everyone and happy Monday!

Welcome back for a new week here on GolfNow TV. Our question on last Friday’s show was about a golfer who agreed to pay a hitman to kill him and it’s a story we found completely by accident while we were researching another question. 77% of the answers we received chose the correct answer so if you didn’t already know the story or didn’t find it in an internet search, then be sure to watch today’s show because it’s pretty fascinating.

Our prize on last Friday’s show was a Callaway golf grab bag and our winner was Kip Leach of Florence, Arizona. Congratulations, Kip, and be sure to send an e-mail to me at Keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 days to claim your prize.

Friday, January 25th, 2008

Hi, everyone and happy Friday!

So, in case you didn’t know, GolfNow launched their brand new redesigned website this week and there have been a few bugs - such as not being able to send in comments on our show yesterday - but we think we’ve got everything worked out and the site looks great.

We heard from two of our winners this week, which is great. Stephen Tingley of State College, Pennsylvania was just one of our two Big Prize 2 for Tuesday One Year Anniversary show winners and Stephen won a PING G10 driver plus a PING Karsten Series Craz-E putter and a dozen personalized Titleist Pro-V1 golf balls! We still haven’t heard from our other winner - David Brown of Florence, Arizona - so, David, if you’re out there, get in touch with us! We also heard from our winner yesterday who was Joe Bales of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Joe won a personalized putter from Upswing Golf. Congratulations, guys!

Our question on yesterday’s show was on a famous TV host who once worked as a caddy alongside Gene Sarazen. 73% of the entries we received had the correct answer, so today we’ll tell you who it was and, if you were right, you will have added one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings.

Okay, that’s it for this week. Have a great weekend and I’ll see you back on Monday! - Keri

Steve Duplantis Killed!

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

steve_duplantis.jpg

Tour caddie Steve Duplantis was killed by a taxi in San Diego. The party-hearty long-haired caddie made famous in the book Bud, Sweat & Tees was out at 2am in Del Mar when a cab struck and killed him. According to police, Duplantis was dead at the scene.

Steve Duplantis was one of the most popular caddies on tour, despite constantly showing up late and hungover to practice. Steve has caddied for Jim Furyk, Rich Beem and for Eric Axley at the The Buick Invitational.

When Tommy Armour III set the 72-hole scoring record at the Texas Open in 2003, Duplantis was at his side. Armour now says he’s not surprised Duplantis went out tragically:

“He was one of the better caddies. That’s why he kept getting hired. He was very confident with what he said.

“Am I shocked by this? No. I tried several times to get him some help. And I told him in 2003, ‘Bud, if you don’t change, you’re going to die a tragic death.”

Sad way to go.

Hi, everyone and happy Wednesday!

First of all, if you haven’t already seen it, we’ve launched the brand new look of the GolfNow website and we think you’re really going to like it. There are new features and they improved some parts that were already pretty great, so be sure to give it a look.

Yesterday was our one year anniversary on the show and we had a really great Big Prize 2 for Tuesday drawing. Our winners were David Brown of Florence, Arizona and Stephen Tingley of State College, Pennsylvania - congratulations, guys! Hopefully, we’ll hear from David and Stephen by e-mail within 30 days because it would be a shame if they didn’t get our prizes yesterday - a PING G10 Driver and a PING Karsten series Craz-E Putter - both of which were gold medal winners on the brand new 2008 Hot List by Golf Digest - plus a dozen personalized Titleist Pro-V1 golf balls to use with their new clubs.

Our question on yesterday’s show was on a golf course with the world’s only floating green. 89% of the entries we received were correct, so today we’ll tell you what course it is and, if you were right, you will have added another entry into our computer for our daily drawings.

Okay, that’s it for today. Have a great day! - Keri
