It’s Big Prize Thursday today on GolfNow TV

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

Hi, everyone and happy Big Prize Thursday!

Our trivia question yesterday was on the PGA’s Lifetime Achievement Awards’s first recipient and 81% of the entries we received chose the correct answer. So, on today’s show, we’ll tell you who won that first award and if you answered correctly then you’ll earn one more entry into our daily drawings.

Our prize in yesterday’s drawing was a NIKE IC Mallet Putter from Golf Digest’s 2008 Hot List and our winner was Kevin Shatwell of San Diego, California. Kevin was lucky enough to see his name announced yesterday and got in touch with us so we’ll be getting that new Nike putter out to him right away.

Okay, that’s it for today. Have a great day! - Keri

Did Trump Get Trumped?

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

The Donald made plans a while ago to build Europe’s largest golf and housing resort in Northern Scotland. But he developed a snag when Michael Forbes, whom owns the 23 acres of land that sits directly between Trump’s two proposed 18-hole golf courses and planned five-star hotel basically told Trump that everything does not have a price and that his land was not for sale.

Has Trump ever been told no before?

Forbes said he is very happy with living on his peaceful land just the way it is. His 82-year-old mother also lives there in a trailer that she calls “paradise.” She even has the sign to prove it.

Trump said Forbes is just holding out for more money. But, each party did have something to say about the other:

Forbes on Trump: “He’s a greedy man, that’s all he is.”

Trump on Forbes: “The reality with him is he got very greedy.”

This Scottish standoff got even better when another wealthy businessman told Forbes that he would double whatever offer Trump made, basically just to stop Trump from purchasing the property.

The Greatest Golfer in the World is Unstoppable!

Tiger Woods reportedly said that he plans to win every tournament he plays this year. Well, he just might. People are saying that Tiger is on top of his game. He just won his sixth straight tournament title by defeating Stewart Cink in the final of the World Golf Match Play event. Cink claimed that Tiger is playing the best golf of his career after Tiger struck 14 birdies in 29 holes to win.

This tournament also allowed Woods to pass Arnold Palmer’s record on the U.S. PGA Tour’s all-time wins list by defeating Cink.

So what records does Tiger have left to break?

Well, he is on pace to possibly beat Byron Nelson’s record, one of the only achievements Tiger does not hold. Nelson maintains the record for the longest personal streak win on Tour after he won 11 straight tournaments and 18 overall in 1945. It is certainly probable that Woods could tie Nelson as early as June if he keeps winning like he has been and goes on to win this year’s U.S. Open at Torrey Pines.
