Sorenstam on Late Night

The Top 10 Reasons Annika Sorenstam is Retiring…

“I just want a job where I can sit in a cubicle instead of being stuck on a golf course all day.”

  1. Andy Brown Says:

A lot of the professional athletes are choosing to hang up their boots a little ahead of their time. There used to be a time, when it would just be disgraceful to see some of the legends hanging around, playing their sport, till we are all sick of them and they are miles away from the podium. But this on the other hand is another extreme. Retiring on top of their game is one thing but that should be done only when the fall is imminent, not when you can scale greater heights. It is especially disappointing because the LPGA Tour seemed set to host perhaps one of the greatest sporting rivalries in the history of sport in the form of Sorenstam and Ochoa dueling each other.

We now have only this season to watch a contest that could have developed into one of the best of all times. Now she cannot afford to have her game go off the boil and disappear away into oblivion in her last few months on the circuit. Knowing that she is a champion player, I guess it would be a safe bet to assume that she will probably raise her game up by a notch.
