Tiger Who?

It is cold, wet and windy in England, and Tiger Woods is no where to be found. To some, this may be reason to miss the final rounds of this week’s Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. Any fans deciding not to watch, however, really don’t know what they are missing…

Greg Norman, the Shark and former World No. 1 portrayed some of that old brilliance that won him two previous Open Championships. After two rounds, the 53-year old Australian sits alone in second place at even par. Absent from the limelight for most of the decade, Norman is showing us he can still play with the young guns of the PGA. Maybe his recent marriage to former tennis star Chris Evert has put a bounce back in his step.

Those hoping for David Duval to regain the swing he had 10 years ago found him looking good through the first two rounds. The former Open champion and World No. 1 is in a tie for fourth place at two over par. Let’s hope he keeps it up through the weekend and gives himself a chance coming down the stretch on Sunday.

What about Rocco Mediate? The 2008 US Open contender is continuing his outstanding season by putting himself in contention again. Having been haunted by a bad back for much of his career, Rocco seems to be making the most of this good run of play he has come across. It’s hard not to root for someone who always seems to have a good time, no matter how tense the situation can get.
