Win a Bobby Jones signature wedge today on GolfNow’s Trivia Contest

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Hi, everyone and happy Monday!

So, how hot is is where you live? While we’ve had perfect weather here in Portland with highs in the 70’s lately, in parts of the rest of the country it’s HOT and so, our question today has to do with a very cool tournament - literally. Have fun looking that one up (for those of you that do) and stay cool out there on the course.

Our question on last Friday’s show had to do with the company that created the first set of matching golf clubs produced in America. This is actually a question we asked way back in the beginning days of our show last year and we had a pretty big split in the answers, which surprised us. 48% of the entries we received chose A - Spalding, but then 31% chose D - MacGregor and B - Wilson even got 15% of the vote. So, we’re going to go back and double-check our answer just to be sure we’re right and we’ll let everyone know sometime this week.

Our winner on our last Free Gas and Free Golf show last Friday was Chris Epper of Chandler, Arizona
so, Chris, in order to claim your prizes just send and e-mail to me within the next 30 days.

Okay, that’s it for today. Have a great Monday!

Last Wednesday, 22 –year old Andrew Giuliani, son of former Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani filed a lawsuit in federal court in Durham, N.C. against Duke University after being forced of the school’s golf team. In the suit, Giuliani asks for damages and for the right to use Duke’s golf center for the rest of his life, as he said he was promised when he was recruited to play for the school.

It’s the last day of our Free Golf and Free Gas week on GolfNow’s Trivia Contest

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Hi, everyone and happy Friday!

Okay, short and sweet today - yesterday we asked about The Evian Masters tournament and which country had won the most times. 72% of the entries we received chose the correct country so that means that those people now have one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings!

Our winner on yesterday’s show was Doug Lawrenson of Bellevue, Washington and, Doug won a free round of golf from GolfNow.com and a free $50 gas card, just like all of our winners this week and to claim his prize, we just need to hear from him within the next 30 days.

Okay, that’s it for today. Have a great weekend and be sure to watch the end of today’s show for a sneak peek at next week’s episode of Highway 18! - Keri!

It’s Big Prize Wednesday during our Free Golf & Gas week on GolfNow’s Trivia Contest

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

Hi, everyone and happy Wednesday!

Okay, yesterday we asked you to pick the two players who were known as the “Gold Dust Twins” in the 1940’s and we really should have worded the question differently since you could only technically pick one of the two as your answer. Both of the correct answers were selected almost exactly evenly with one of the golfers getting 44% of the total vote and the other getting 45%. So, since it was already Two for Tuesday anyway - we’ll go ahead and give everyone who chose one of the correct golfers as their answer two entries into our computer!

Also, since it was Two for Tuesday, then that means we had two winners and they were Don Bolin of Greenville, Texas and Oliver Mueseler of Poway, California. Congratulations to Don and Oliver and, in addition to the free round of golf and free $50 gas card that we gave away, we’re also going to give away a Golf Channel prize package to celebrate the premiere of Highway 18. So, Don and Oliver, be sure to send an e-mail to me at keri@golfnow.com within 30 days to claim these great prizes!

I don’t know how many of you got to see the premiere of Highway 18 last night on The Golf Channel but I think it turned out great and, while I obviously can’t tell you who wins, I can tell you that the competition and drama gets even better as the show goes on. So, I hope you can tune in each week - or have your DVR’s set to record it - because you won’t want to miss a thing.

Okay, that’s it for today. Have a great Wednesday! - Keri!

Michelle Wie To Play On PGA Tour Again

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

After forgetting to sign her scorecard, Michelle Wie got disqualified from the State Farm classic last weekend. But that embarrassment is not enough to keep her down. Or, keep her focused on the LPGA. She simply refuses to concentrate on women’s competition alone. She announced yesterday that she would be going up against the men yet again at the Legends Reno – Tahoe Open later this month. This is the 8th time she has played on the PGA Tour.
