The Associated Press reported that Annika Sorenstam lost. Jeong Jang and Candie Kung beat Annika Sorenstam and Angela Stanford, 3 and 2, to help Asia split the six opening alternate-shot matches in the Lexus Cup in Singapore. The Lexus Cup is Sorenstam’s final L.P.G.A.-sanctioned event before she retires. The International teams of Cristie Kerr and Karen Stupples; Paula Creamer and Nicole Castrale; and Katherine Hull and Nikki Campbell won their matches. Tim Clark of South Africa shot a two-under-par 70 to take a one-stroke lead after two rounds of the Australian Masters in Melbourne.
