It Pays to Play with GolfNow

With the odds of winning the Powerball grand prize holding steady at one in 175 million, chances are many of us will never be that lucky.

Still, there are plenty of other things that can make us feel like a big winner and are much more likely to happen; like when you reach into your pocket and find $20 or when you hit a hole-in-one (12,500 to 1 odds unless you’re a PGA Tour pro, in which case the odds are 2,500 to 1).

We wish everyone could have that “jackpot” feeling more often, which is why GolfNow gives away more than 2,000 pro event tickets – including hundreds of PGA Tour event tickets – to GolfNow Rewards members throughout the year. We caught up with a couple of these lucky folks recently to get their reactions…

William Elder | Jacksonville, FL

William Elder, an avid golfer based in the Jacksonville area, said he was “tickled to death” when he opened up an envelope he received in the mail and found two week-long passes to the THE PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass a few weeks ago. “Just like Phil Robertson on Duck Dynasty,” William said, “I am ‘happy, happy, happy!’”

William said he attended every day of the tournament but shared the tickets with his daughter, Michelle, and her husband Raymond, on the final day. As a frequent traveler, William, says he always uses GolfNow to book his rounds, whether at home or in Ohio with friends.

“I love the discounts and the perks I get with the rewards program – two more rounds and I qualify for a free twosome,” William exclaimed. “If you play golf, you’ve got to be cuckoo not to use GolfNow!”

Mike Dymyd | Charlotte, NC

The timing couldn’t have been better when Charlotte-based golfer Mike Dymyd received tournament passes to the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Country Club last month.

“It was actually my birthday, and when I got home from hanging out with friends I saw that I had received a letter from GolfNow,” Mike said. “Quail Hollow was all sold out except for Saturday, so I was pretty excited when I saw the tickets.”

Mike, who only began playing golf two years ago, enjoys the variety of courses and value that GolfNow provides him. “Even though I book tee times, I thought that GolfNow didn’t really think about me. Then I received these tickets and it’s nice to know that they appreciate my business.”

HARD CORE – Mike Dymyd and his friend booked early tee times to play a round each day before attending the Wells Fargo Championship.

James Clarke | Fort Lauderdale, FL

Florida resident James Clarke has been playing golf since he was 16-years-old, and discovered GolfNow almost four years ago. “I used to play just one course where a friend of mine was a member, but I like to play different courses,” James said. Using GolfNow, he said he’s able to get more variety conveniently, noting that he’d played six different courses in the past two weeks alone and booked his rounds easily online.

James was pleasantly surprised when he received WGC-Cadillac Championship tickets in the mail in March. He and his friends spent most of their time at the 3rd hole tee box where they could watch all the pairings go by. “To stand there and be five feet from the top 50 golfers in world – it’s more than just watching golf to me,” James said. “It’s really impressive.”

LOVE TO GOLF – James (middle) and his friend, Bill, and son, Chris, playing a round together.

Mark Jackson | Jacksonville, FL

Jacksonville golfer Mark Jackson says he’s been booking with GolfNow for two years, ever since he was bit by the golf bug after playing in a charity tournament with a colleague. “What interested me most about GolfNow was the crazy, wicked deals I could get on tee times,” Mark said. “And if there’s a course in town that I really want to play, nine times out of 10 it’s on GolfNow.”

Mark says he wakes up every morning thinking about golf and even took on a part-time, second job as a course maintainer to be closer to the game. “GolfNow has made me fall in love with the game of golf,” he said.

Mark was “flabbergasted” when he received week-long passes to THE PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass in the mail in May. He was able to bring his wife and two young boys and spend some quality time with them enjoying his new-found passion.

PLAY ALL DAY – Mark and his 3-year-old, Chandler, spending some QT at TPC Sawgrass.
