No Group? No Problem! Play Single
Picture this scenario. It’s time. You’re ready to hit the links and play a round but all your golfing buddies are tied up. What to do?
Most of us would probably just call it quits and try again next weekend, right? But, what about getting out there by yourself? You may have never done it before, but go out and play single and meet a few new players next time. You won’t regret it.
It used to be that a solo golfer had few if any “rights” on the course, forced to give way to any larger groups but that’s not the case any more. Most foursomes will allow a faster solo player to play through these days.
GolfNow even has a new program called Play Single for the solo golfer helping them easily get deals on great singles tee times at fantastic courses and pairing them with groups.
Here are some of the benefits to going it alone for one of your next rounds.
MEET AND GREET: Just because you show up at the course by yourself doesn’t mean you have to play by yourself. If you aren’t dead set on some alone time out on the course that day look for another singleton or a group of two or three to join up with.
It’s a great way to meet new people in your area who you at least have golf in common with and you might just make a new friend or two. If not, at least you’ll have a few more eyes to keep track of any errant shots.
FOCUS: No partners, no distractions, just you, the course and your game. Take this time to focus on all the different aspects of a round like course management and your pre-shot routine, things that might get lost in the shuffle when you’re out with your usual golf buddies.
PLAY IT AGAIN: If you’re lucky and the course isn’t too crowded, you’ll get to play alone and play some extra shots. Playing a round by yourself means you can open up some space between you and the group behind you, if there is one, and get in some extra work on the course rather than on the range.
A lot of solo players will play two balls against each other and this offers you the chance to work on different shots out on the course rather than on the range.
