Aloha, Hawaii Golf

What says summer like a golf getaway to Hawaii? With breathtaking views at every turn, unbeatable weather, not to mention some of the most beautiful and exciting courses in the world, Hawaii makes for the perfect summer vacation. Here are five great courses to consider from island to island, but wherever you decide to play in Hawaii, you won’t be disappointed.

Hapuna Golf Course (Big Island) – With its panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean from every hole, and Maui in the distance, Hapuna Golf Course is one of Big Island’s hidden gems. Locals love Hapuna for its challenging play, environmental sensitivity, and dramatic elevation changes that take golfers from sea level to 700 feet above.

Hawaii Prince Golf Club (Oahu) – There’s no shortage of beautiful views and exciting play at Hawaii Prince Golf Club. With the rain-carved Waianae Mountains as the backdrop, and three interchangeable nine-hole courses, golfers can play Hawaii Prince time and time again and experience something new each visit.

Volcano Golf and Country Club (Big Island) – Located next to Volcanoes National Park, Volcano Golf and Country Club is perfect for the golfer looking for a tranquil, enjoyable round. Volcano has its challenges, especially on No. 15, but is known for its relaxing, peaceful atmosphere, and unrivaled views of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa.

Puakea

Puakea Golf Course (Kauai) – Set at the base of Mount Haupu, Puakea challenges golfers with deep ravines and mountain streams throughout. Puakea presents new and interesting challenges at each hole, and stunning views of the island and Pacific Ocean.

Ka’anapali Kai Golf Course (Maui) – Host of 2008’s Big Break Ka’anapali, Ka’anapali Kai Golf Course is an accommodating course, suiting golfers of all skill levels. Filled with lush native landscape unique to the area, the Kai course is an enjoyable round, testing golfers’ focus and strategy.

Man, I kick myself, I was stationed in Hawaii thru the Navy for 3 years but had not taken up golf until 13 years after I retired. I remember passing one of the base courses all of the times and saying that it looked like fun. Dangit!
