Tour de Mexico
Today is Cinco de Mayo, a Mexican holiday celebrating the victory over France in the Battle of Puebla. Although it is traditionally a Mexican holiday, many Americans like to join in with the celebration south of the border. In honor of Cinco de Mayo, we’re taking a tour de Mexico to show you some GolfNow courses fit for a fiesta, along with local Mexican fare, because what’s a party without a little comida y bebida?
Palmilla Golf Club (San Jose de Cabo, BA) –Named one of the “Top 100 Golf Courses in the World” by Great Golf Resorts of the World, Palmilla Golf Club in San Jose boasts three nine-hole courses for a challenging golf experience along the Sea of Cortez.
Palmilla Golf Club offers six different dining options at its resort. Agua by Larbi specializes in authentic Mexican cuisine, along with the world’s largest selection of Mexican wines.
CostaBaja Golf Club (La Paz, BA) – Rated five-stars by GolfNow golfers, CostaBaja Golf Club is the first Gary Player designed course in Mexico. With views of its namesake the Sea of Cortez at every hole, CostaBaja is a true testament to Mexican golf.
Costabaja’s on-location restaurant, La Pintada, continues to supply breathtaking views of the Sea of Cortez, while serving up the freshest fish in La Paz along with their signature margaritas.
El Tigre Golf and Country Club (Puerto Vallarta, JC) – Reviewed as one of the “Top 10 golf courses in All of Mexico” by Golf Guide Magazine and Golf in Mexico Magazine, El Tigre Golf and Country Club provides one of the most challenging golf games in Mexico. Not only is the course a beast, but at the entryway, a Bengal tiger lives (securely) in his natural habitat. Think you can tame El Tigre?
Nearby restaurant, La Palapa, is located on the beach and has the fun atmosphere you’re looking for on a night out in Mexico. Guests will enjoy exotic drinks in handblown glassware, along with freshly caught seafood from the bay and live music.
Puerto Cancun Golf Club (Cancun, QR) – Puerto Cancun Golf Club is nestled right in between the Cancun hotel district and downtown. Designed by Tom Weiskopf, the star of the course is the natural tropical Cancun landscape, with holes close to the canals and Caribbean Sea.
If you’re feeling adventurous in Cancun, schedule a cooking class with Can Cook In Cancun, where their motto is “mi cocina es tu cocina.”
Las Palomas Beach & Golf Resort (Puerto Penasco, SO) – Las Palomas Beach and Golf Resort is where the desert meets the sea. Golfers will enjoy beautiful views of northwestern Mexico from every hole on this links style course.
Las Palomas has two on-location restaurants, Citron and La Maria, both providing authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
