Behind the Course: Tour 18
Humble, Texas is a terrific little community that sits less than 45 minutes outside of the bustling metropolis that is Houston. Being located away from the center of downtown area doesn’t mean that Humble is lacking in fun things to do, though – especially if you’re looking for a great round of golf.
Humble’s own Tour 18 Golf Club, measuring in at just under 6,800 yards from the tips, offers any golfer a great chance to enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience on a golf course. The key to Tour 18’s charm is that each of the holes on the course is designed as a replica of a famous or well-known golf hole from championship courses around the country. And while we can’t name all of them here, chances are that if you’ve heard of it or seen it on TV, your best shot at playing it is right here at Tour 18 Golf Club.
The fun kicks off with a replica of the 18th hole at Harbour Town, with wetlands guarding the left side of the hole while a small, well-guarded green awaits your pinpoint approach shot. After that opening challenge you’re off to Bay Hill – or so it might seem. The second hole at Tour 18 is a faithful recreation of the sixth hole from Bay Hill, complete with a fairway that wraps around a very large pond. It’s up to you to decide whether you’ll play it safe and stay on dry land, or if you’ll break out the big club and try to head straight for glory.
Holes 5, 6, and 7 offer you a great chance to experience the famous “Amen Corner,” complete with the same types of challenges and strategic play required of the pros each year as they battle in Augusta.
There are many more fantastic pieces to this unique puzzle of a course, but the amenities go beyond just great design. Top Tracer technology at the indoor driving range lets you truly track your shots and see exactly where, how, and how far you’re hitting … and anything that you need to keep working on, too. Great food, friendly staff, and golf pros who can offer you guidance for this course and any other round out a terrific place to spend some time while working on your golf game.
