Golf Channel Amateur Tour Nationals Tee Off Today
It’s that time of the year again! The season when some of the best amateur golfers in the U.S. vie for their chance at golf glory and a shiny new piece of hardware.
Golf Channel Amateur Tour’s best players are teeing off today for the title of National Champion and next week for the title of Senior National Champion. This year the Championships are being held in one of the word’s finest golf destinations, Scottsdale, Ariz. at Talking Stick Resort and Grayhawk Golf Club.
Forty-eight of the 50 states, Canada and Puerto Rico are represented with a record 1,240 players in attendance. The tournament is divided into two events – the Open National Championship, Sept. 9-12, and the Senior National Championship (age 50+), Sept. 15-18. Twelve participants in six flights – six from the senior division and six from the open division – will be crowned national champions after playing four exhilarating days of championship golf at Talking Stick Golf Club and Grayhawk Golf Club.
This year is unlike any other—with new courses to compete on and more competitors than ever before, the competition is at an all time high. Members have been perfecting their game all season long at local and Major events, and now it’s time to put their skills to the test.
With plenty of excitement happening, on and off the course, the National Championships are the event of the season for Am Tour golfers. Golf Channel personalities like Peter Jacobsen, Curt Byrum, and David Feherty are making appearances and competitors will enjoy events like the Player’s Dinner, the Longest Drive Competition, Nightly Scoring parties, and more.
