The classic layout of Stonewall Orchard Golf Club, in Grayslake, Ill., was designed by the famed and award-winning architect, Arthur Hills. It offers rolling hills, magnificent pine and oak trees, and tranquil wetlands surrounded by wildlife. With its strategic bunkers, water obstacles and blue grass roughs, Makray Memorial Golf Club is an experience you won’t want to miss out on. This premier 18-hole championship course in Barrington, Ill. was named in honor of Paul Makray, who originally purchased the course in 1962. Not only does Makray have bent grass tees and thousands of yards with numerous sets of trees, but it also features a brand new 24,000 sq. ft. clubhouse that will make you feel like you’re in an old world wonderland.
Since 1901, the Ravisloe Country Club in Homewood, Ill. has been a destination full of history and challenge. Originally owned by the members of the Chicago’s Standard Club, it was renovated in 1917 by famed designer, Donald Ross. After it’s closing in 2008, Ravisloe was reopened as a public jewel for all to once again enjoy. Surrounded by lush gardens with a spectacular club house, Ravisloe Country Club will continue to be enjoyed by generations to come.
Uniquely redesigned to aid in the management of storm water after it rains, Glenview Park Golf Club is a place full of enjoyment and bliss. This 6,113 yard par 70 course features bent grass tee boxes at each of it’s 18-holes. Surrounded by a variety of trees, shrubs and flowers, it is a public course with a private feel.
With it’s three nine-hole courses that combine to form three separate par 72 18-hole layouts, Arrowhead Golf Club continues to offer a unique golf experience. Without a house in sight, this course features water on 17 out of 27 of it’s holes and is surrounded by forest preserve. It also offers a practice area with a lighted driving range, putting green, chipping green and bunkers. In the Chicago area, Arrowhead is known for its private club feel and prestigious treatment of golfers as guests.
