The Ryder Cup: Golf’s Greatest Rivalry

By Kelsey Erwin-Formaneck

It only happens every two years—but when it does, the Ryder Cup flips golf on its head.
Gone is the quiet calm of the country club. In its place? Roaring crowds, flying flags, and high-stakes team play that brings raw emotion to every hole.

This isn’t the time for green jackets or paychecks—it’s the time for passion and pride.  Since 1927, the Ryder Cup has brought together the best players from Europe and the United States for a match-play competition that generates drama, tension, and strong camaraderie, captivating audiences worldwide.

From Sam Torrance’s clutch 22-footer in 1985 to Justin Leonard’s iconic putt in 1999 that helped erase a 10–6 deficit, these are the moments that make the Ryder Cup unforgettable.

From the first tee off, the energy was undeniable. Tommy Fleetwood sealed the deal for the Cup on Sunday with a clutch 3&1 win, while Rory led by example—emotionally charged, laser-focused, and nearly flawless on the course. He played as a captain in spirit, if not in title. As 2025’s competition approaches, the question remains — can Team Europe continue to reign? Or will the Americans take back the Cup? Only time will tell.

2025: Back in the U.S.

This year, the Ryder Cup returns to American soil—and to one of the toughest tests in golf.
Set in Farmingdale, New York, Bethpage Black is a beast of a course, designed by the legendary A.W. Tillinghast. Known for its narrow fairways, deep bunkers, and punishing rough, it’s so demanding there’s a warning sign at the first tee.

Team USA is hungry to reclaim the Cup on home turf—fueled by a fired-up crowd and the advantage of familiarity. But Team Europe isn’t coming quietly. They’re chasing something bigger: a win on U.S. soil for the first time since 2012, and a shot at rewriting recent history.

Book Now: Can’t make it to New York? You don’t need a grandstand seat to feel the Ryder Cup energy—just bring your crew to your local course and play your own match.

As 2025 approaches and the roars return to American soil, one thing is sure: whether you’re watching from the edge of the green or the edge of your seat, the Ryder Cup will remind you why golf—at its highest level—feels like so much more than a game. The countdown is on. The Cup is calling.
