Tune in to Golf Channel’s “Payne”

This weekend as we prepare for the upcoming 2014 U.S. Open Championship, we pause to celebrate Golf Channel Films’ release of “Payne,” a one-hour special chronicling the life of the husband, father and championship golfer that was Payne Stewart.

Fifteen years ago, Stewart won the U.S. Open at Pinehurst. As the U.S. Open returns to the course next week, “Payne” tells the story of Stewart’s vibrant life.

Known for his big personality and tam-o’-shanter caps, this man was a truly beloved player. Sadly, only four months after his 1999 win at Pinehurst, Payne Stewart lost his life in a tragic plane accident. Not only did we lose a family man, jokester, and golf fashion icon, the sport lost one of its most legendary players.

“Payne” tells the beautiful story of Stewart’s life and is an excellent depiction of the man who was taken too soon.

Tune in for the premiere of “Payne” on Sunday, June 8, at 5 p.m. EST on NBC, and an encore presentation on Monday, June 9, at 10 p.m. EST on Golf Channel.
