Holiday Gift Guide: Gear That’ll Make You Want to Play
What’s better than a round of golf? How about a round of golf with some all-new gear!
Like a kid playing with his favorite new toy on Christmas morning, we all get a little giddy heading out to the course with new additions to the arsenal. So whether you’re shopping for the ultimate gift for the golfer on your list this holiday season, or looking for hints to drop to others, here are a few suggestions that will have you looking good, feeling good and hopefully playing even better than before.
Shoes:
You know the saying, “walk a mile in my shoes.” Well you’re going to be logging some miles out on the golf course with these.
ASICS GEL-Linksmaster Slick looking and comfortable plus they won’t break the bank.
ASICS is known for cranking out good running shoes and the Linksmaster has a gel-cushioning system in the heel that mimics an ASICS running shoe. Champ’s Scorpion Stinger cleats hold it all together.
Balls:
You’ve got the sticks but you might not be playing the ball that’s best for your game and like most of us amateurs, you’re looking for every advantage you can get to whittle that handicap.
Try teeing up a Bridgestone E5 next time out and see if it doesn’t make a difference.
The E5 is constructed for players with more moderate swing speeds and its urethane cover will give you an improved launch angle and spin on the greens. A good deal at less than $30 a dozen and worth the investment if it takes even just a stroke or two off your score.
Gloves:
The no gloves look may have worked for Jorge Posada in baseball and Tommy Gainey has the two-glove look trademarked so let us suggest something in the middle.
The Callaway Tour Authentic comes in under $20 and passes the style test for looks and the golf test for fit and functionality.
The top and palm of the glove are leather, while spandex over the knuckles improves range of motion and spandex on the third and fourth fingers help with club grip.
With this gear, it’ll be the best holiday season yet for the golfer in your life (even if that golfer is you!).
